Meet the Herd

Jewel

With this award- winning matriarch of 12, her exceptional mothering nature is only outdistanced by her very dense, beautiful brownie-brown fibre. Jewel is a peaceful walker and loves to nibble hay facing the sun. She is the true earth mother and nurture all members of the herd – including cria that are not her own.

Cleopatra (Cleo)

Cleo is the starlet of Silver Birch Alpacas. Our Cleo has appeared on the cover of Camelid Quarterly and while not born in the shadow of the pyramids, she shares the beautiful countenance and regal stature of her namesake.  She is as placid and calm as her big sweet eyes suggest. Her best friend is Joey, they enjoy “pronking” in a fresh snowfall.

Gia

Our friendly, puppy-like Gia will follow you around the barn as you work. With a fondness for alfafa and classic alpaca stance, Gia is a happy, reliable member of the Silver Birch family who is never seen without her best friend Chara – whether lounging in the barn or sunbathing in the pasture.

Tuxedo Joe (Joey)

Silver Birch Alpaca’s bad boy. Joey is a sweet, young rascal, aiming to be leader of the pack. He enjoys flirting with the gals, having a good short run burst, and head butting (gently) when happy and when his hay is laid out.

Think about adding Joey to your own herd!  See our Adopt an Alpaca section for more information about e-adoption options and process.

Blondie

Just like the new wave band, Blondie is a sweetheart with a powerful influence over the herd. Her white, crimped fibre is gorgeous and we look forward to seeing the special clothing that’ll be made into an “Original Blondie” piece.

Black-Eyed Susie

Silver Birch’s newest family member is Black-Eyed Susie.  Susie’s fibre is a beautiful, rich black colour. She’s a very curious, spunky alpaca, always trying to find out where different gates go…and if she can open them.  She enjoys snuggling with her mom, Jewel.

Zaria

At 7 years, Zaria is our very own Grand Dame of the herd. She has a café Americano true brown coat, with very dense fibre and has already produced award winning cria. We continue to expect great things from Zaria.

Sundance

With two first place shows under his metaphoric belt, Sundance is a dulce de leche dream. His even temperament and consistent showing and dense coat are the full package in this Silver Birch herd member. Sundance leads by example and the herd is the better for his princely deportment, his elegance, and gentility.

Chara

Sporting a snowy long fibre coat, Chara is our female CEO. Whenever there’s something to explore or check out—Chara’s in the lead to discover and let the rest of the herd know what’s what.

Think about adding Chara to your own herd!  See our Adopt an Alpaca section for more information about e-adoption options and process.

Charlie

Our own boy band leader, Charlie’s fawn fibre is as soft as it looks. Despite being a bit of a hipster with his floppy forelock, at 7 years old, with seven first place showings on his mantle, Charlie is the real deal. He has a very thick, crimped coat that gives our craftspeople a lot to create with every spring.

Think about adding Charlie to your own herd!  See our Adopt an Alpaca section for more information about e-adoption options and process.

Aztec

Aztec is our own Egyptian god, with a sun baked brown coat shot through with threads of gold and amber.  He is stately, calm, and regal and an absolute joy to have in the barn.  With sprightliness, flair and vigor, Aztec provides the elan necessary to the herd.

Think about adding Aztec to your own herd!  See our Adopt an Alpaca section for more information about e-adoption options and process.

Atticus

True to his name-sake, Atticus Finch, our Atticus, with his calm wisdom, and exemplary behavior, is respected by everyone, including the very smallest in the herd.  While young, and growing into his “shoes”, he is the moral backbone of the barn and on the road to becoming a tremendous herd sire.  We love his sparkling white, very dense and “crimpy” fibre and know you will too!

Think about adding Atticus to your own herd!  See our Adopt an Alpaca section for more information about e-adoption options and process.

Diablo

Diablo is a beautiful true black male cria born on Mother’s Day 2018. At his current weight of 61 lbs, he is fun, energetic and playful and enjoys spending time pronking in the pasture with his friends Stella and Susie. Bo, as he is known in the barn, is gaining weight daily and has a number of firsts to his name: first born at Silver Birch Alpacas, first to eat pellets, hay and water, first out to the fields every day. He has beautiful dense, black fibre and we look forward to seeing what he can produce! Bo’s genetics are making themselves known in this large, well-proportioned true black boy. He is tall, upright, growing perfectly into his bones with a great head. He is a spitting image of his sire, Jett Black of Peterboro, a champion in his own right!
